Alimony Victims Association
Welcome to the Alimony Victims Association. The purpose of this site is to provide an electronic bulletin board and common resource center for use by those groups and their members who have formed and come together to fight against the unfair, unjust, and unconstitutional practice of government-forced alimony payments, especially the scourge of the “life sentence”, a court order to pay alimony to your ex-spouse...................for the rest of your natural life.
People who have no experience with divorce and family courts (the lucky ones) often wonder what all the fuss is about. "What’s wrong with alimony?" they ask. It is the goal of this site to help you learn the answer that and other questions about this issue.
Marriage can be a wonderful thing, the defining relationship in your life. Nothing in your life is ever likely to be more important than a happy, healthy family. But all too often things go wrong, couples grow apart and find they can no longer live together. When this happens the government has some interest in ensuring that both parties in a divorce are treated fairly and that their children are provided for. However, it is our strongly held belief that once the marital assets are equitably divided, marital debts settled, and children provided for, the state has no further interest nor the right to force you to continue supporting a person to whom you are no longer related and to whom you owe no debt.
We also firmly believe that any government order, supported by the threat of punishment, to pay for the support of any unrelated person to whom you owe no debt, is a violation of your protection under the 13th amendment to the U.S. Constitution against involuntary servitude.
On this site you will find links to the groups on the front lines of this effort. Chief among these is the Alliance for Freedom From Alimony, Inc. and its political action committee, the Citizens for Liberty and Privacy. You will also find the link to our electronic bulletin board where group members and other victims can tell their stories, discuss their cases, seek advice, and share information.
If you are forced to pay alimony and you believe it is wrong, join the Alliance for Freedom From Alimony or one of its affiliates. If there is no affiliate in your state consider forming one yourself. Don't continue to be a victim, fight back!
